Sleeve Holster

The old west movies always have a gambler with a derringer or pepperbox up his sleeve. Seems like it would be a great place for BUG... anything like that nowadays? Maybe an ankle holster on the wrist would work... though it may not even be feasible. Any ideas?

Are you willing to wear shirts with long wide sleeves? Maybe with a frilled cuff to obscure what is uhh...up your sleeve?
It would have to be slim and small and light, maybe a Kel-Tec or NAA piece with an Ace bandage to keep it in place on the arm.
If using a suit coat maybe an inside the sleeve small pocket secured with velcro. This would work best with a winter thick coat as a one for summer would probably print too much.
It would be a slow draw but it sure would be suprising.

S. D. Myres Saddlery in El Paso had a wrist holster in their last catalog when they went out of business in the 1960s. It was finely crafted from thin leather, using two narrow straps to secure the lined leather cuff. It has a leather covcered clamp and held the little pistol with the butt up, toward the thumb side of the hand. It was offered for the Remington over/under .41 derringer and the old model Colt .25 automatic.
This rig was a hold-over from an earlier era of men's clothing, with rather roomy suit jacket sleeves. Even 'sixties clothing was too narrow-sleeved for the rig to work properly. I visited their plant and outlet store while they were in the process of shutting down. I asked about one, just for collecting purposes, but they were out of stock and didn't figure to make any more. The manager I spoke with said they probably hadn't sold a dozen of this model in the previous five years.
El Paso Saddlery bills itself as the descendant of the S. D. Myres outfit. They use some of their old holster designs. I think they'd do well to replicate this wrist holster for the Cowboy Action shooters, many of whom pride themselves in wearing period-style clothing. On the other hand, strapping a pistol to one's arm with the muzzle pointing toward the wearer's body would probably raise some safety concerns. ;)

Thought of carrying on top of sleeve, under jacket. That way a move to give a perp your watch gives him lead.
Frilled cuff? Maybe a tux shirt that requires cuff links. Leave the links off and it might work.
Thanks for the info... somehow I get the idea that is probably the most informative gun site on the net. Questions usually get answered within an hour... even weird ones like mine.

Very perceptive. That's why this is my favorite site, too!

Yup, and I have one somewhere...;)
It was intended to hold a Remington O/U derringer or Colt 1908 Vest Pocket .25 automatic. It will work outside of shirt, but covered by a coat. Mounted on the left forearm/wrist you draw with the right hand after clasping your hands together (or seeming to do so). It was relatively fast if you hands were near each other, but unconfortable to wear.
Makes a great conversation piece though... :what:

I want one of those holsters like Jeff Goldblum had in Silverado - he just flicked his wrist and a derringer popped into his palm.

Sleeve holster for a Derringer  with the barrel pointing towards the owner/wearer, sounds a little risky to me. Pocket holster would be a much safer mode of carry. To each his own.
FWIW...Consider this for an unusual carry gun/holster combination......
We are currently making a custom TB X-draw holster for a .410 mini side by side shotgun about 8 " overall length (photos when finished). I have never seen one of these mini shotguns b/4 pretty neat, made in Tenn.
