Springfield 9mm compare to Glock 9mm?

Are they similar?, which one will you choose?

The SA has some nice safety features, is the Glock simpler?

Thanks in advance,

by sa do you mean the xd or one of the 9mm 1911's?
they are similar in the fact that they are striker fired, no external safeties( by this i mean thumb safeties, polymer framed, and come in a variety of frame sizes and calibers, and great all around handguns and a great buy. lots of acessories and cheap magazines for the both of them.

welcome to THR
check out this thread i made earlier in relation to the xd.

If you are posting about the xd then i would most definetly go with the xd. but that is because the glock just dosen't fit me. I can't get into the grip angle of the glock, and the ergonaomics just don't do it for me.

the xd has metal sights unlike the glock, which glock's factory u shape sights i hate.
the xd has a metal guide rod unlike the glock
the xd has a metal trigger unlike the glock.
I dislike the glocks finger groves and blockyness
it always seems that my hand is canted foward in an uncomfortable postion with the glock.
the trigger is all around better for me on the xd than the glock
hey and everyone knows that the xd looks pretier than the glock!:)
SA has earned my respect!
by now the accessories that can be had for the glock can now be had for the xd which wasn't the case some time ago, not all but a great majority. which was a big plus for the glock owners before, it is now a pretty level playing field!

these are a few reasons but not nearly all the reasons i love the xd over the gock, and yes i have owned and shot both alot so i do know what i am talking about. this is me and my personal prefferences and by no means am i talking for everyone. both are fine weapons and would serve you well, but i say go for the xd!

Im assuming your talking about the XD. It is a very similar gun to the Glock. I use to have one and it was a great weapon. I learned how to shoot pistols with the Glock, so I prefer them over the XD. The XD I had was accurate and reliable. The only problem I had with the pistol was the finish that wore off fairly quick.

Between the XD and the Glock, pick which ever one fits your hand better.

Yup, both are solid choices, go with what feels like an extension of your arm.

I'd reccomend the search feature of the site if it were not for an inherent flaw in the search system. The search HAS to be more than 2 letters/numbers. So things like CZ, XD, vs (vs would be nice so if somone wanted an opinion on "Glock vs 1911" they could search it easier), etc are hard to search for.
NOTE: I am NOT bashing THR, I love this site! I just wish that VBulletin would allow 2 letter searches.

Back to the main topic:
Glocks and XD's are like cousins, you can tell that there is a relation, but there are obvious differences (insert a southern cousin joke here:rolleyes: ).
The most important difference to me is the ergonomics (how it feels in your hand). There is a great possibilty that you will like the "feel" of one significantly more than the other. Due to the different grip angles, some people like Glocks better, some (like me) like XD's better.
They are both VERY reliable pistols and I would not hesitate to grab either gun in an emergency. They are both pretty accurate and now that XD has fixed the finish issue, they will both stand up well to harsh conditions.
I'd go to a gun store and hold two similar models side-by-side and see what you think (Glock 19 to XD service in 9mm and .40S&W, Glock 21 to XD45, and Glock 26 to XD sub compact).
Hope that helps.~Nathan

Find a range with both as rentals and have at it - try at least one box of ammo in each. 5 or 10 rounds is just not enough to tell if a pistol will rub your trigger finger raw, if the controls don't work well for your finger reach, etc. Try at least 50 rounds with each as a decent test drive. It's worth the effort as you will be happier with your purchase in the long run.
