Just a wild thought but I was wondering if you could fire a .410 shot shell in this thing. It would then be an extremely cool trail gun. Any thoughts?

I thought that the Kats were only available in 45-70 and 450 Marlin?
And if thats what you meant, then no. The two paired calibers for that use would be a 45 Colt/410.
Now thats not to say that you can't "load" a snake-charmer load in a 45-70 or a 450 Marlin using a couple of gas-checks, some #6, 7, or 8 shot and a dose of Blue Dot. :)

Anybody? Somebody must have tried a .410 shell in a 460 barrel.
P.S. DB, The Katahdin is also available in 500 S&W

are you talking about a 460 Weatherby or a 460 S&W?
If your talking about a 460 S&W and your thinking that the chamber will allow a 410 shell like the 410/45 Colt rounds, then no.
Next chance you get, pick up a 410/45 Colt bbl and take a look at the freebore you have on it...
unless you custom order a 460 S&W bbl like that, then no you cannot.
