This question has probably been hashed out many times but scince I'm new to the site here it is. I've shoot indoor bullseye for years and I used a revolver, a few years back I broke down and got a target 45 (Springfield Armory Trophy Match). My current load is 3.8grs of 231 and a 180gr swc from Flightline Bullet Co (local to my area) I'm just not getting the results I want with those bullets. Every one told my to switch to Bullseye powder and a 200gr bullet. My question is who makes the best target grade bullet and what load to start with.

probably the most consistantly accurate bullet ive found in all the 1911s ive owned and shot is the lyman 200 swc. Find someone that will cast them relitivly hard and ill about guarantee they will be accurate in your gun. Another good design is the h&g 200 swc. Ive had crap luck with plated bullets i dont think ive ever had a gun shoot a one inch group at 25 yards with any of them. Most of the guns ive played with had troubles even reaching the 2 inch range. If its non cast your looking for take a good look at the hornady tap hp bullets there a little more expensive then plated but have shot much better for me.

I've had great results (accuracy-wise) with Magnus 200gr swaged SWCs over an easy charge of 3.5gr Bullseye and WLP from both my Kimber and RIA 1911A1. The Kimber might choke every 20 rounds or so with this load, but the RIA hasn't any problems what-so-ever.

I was getting similar results with Win 231 (which I believe is somewhat less "smoky" to boot), but there's something about that classic Bullseye that I like. I suppose because it's a classic, just like the 1911.

Thanks for the help I'll have to try some of those loads. A friend of mine gave me some 200gr swc from mastercast to try too. I better hurry It's almost that season to shoot paper.:D

I'm with my friend Snowdog on this one; as I've also had good
results with the 200 grain L-SWC Magnus bullets over 3.5 grains of
Bullseye powder~! Works pretty darn well in all my .45's.:D

THe H&G 68 is THE bullseye boolit of choice. RCBS makes a close copy.
