Here is an update of where we're at on the new Saiga .308 magazines.

The springs and base plates are done and are here.

The US supplier we had arranged for followers fell through. So now we're importing followers from the Russians. These are the same as the originals. The first shipment of these has not arrived yet.

The molds for the bodies are done. We've received the first test magazines, and we're now testing them to destruction. Yes, they can be broken, but they are far tougher than the original Russian .308 mags. (as judged by the highly scientific method of how hard I have to smash them into things). :) We've done things with the new mags that rendered the originals DOA.

Depending on how the testing goes, we may or may not have to make some small tweaks to the molds. Then all we're waiting for is the followers, then we will be shipping.

I ordered a Saiga .308 from my local supplier with the hopes of moving the trigger group and doind some other nice little mods to make it a decent long-range gun...rifle arrived today and it was one of the funky Saiga 100's with the full length stock, poly dust cover, 3-round mag, and button safety.
Wow, was I disappointed. Gotta find me an old-school .308, not one of the new space-gun looking ones.:barf:

Stopped by the store the other day. They are good looking mags. Very well built.

Now Correia wants the ridiculous sum of around 1600 bucks for the 308 siaga I want him to build to go with those magazines.;)

Actually, the way he's putting it together, a similar AR build would be around 2500, so he's treating me right.

The gun info I saw reccomended to mount a rifle scope to the existing side base, which is factory installed, to the rifle for best accuracy. But watch out I purchased one side mount that was supposed to be for the Saiga and it did not line up "overbore". It was at least 1/2" to the right of the center of the bbl. Needless to say I got another mount. I took my rifle to a 25 meter/yd indoor range. I had to stand to fire the rifle rest from it's rest and the shooting platform was not very solid. I fired 15 rounds into one ragged hole you could cover with a quarter. Sitting down and with a good solid rest this rifle should shoot less than two inches a 100 yds.

One other thing: the trigger on this rifle is very heavy (at least 12 lbs.), but I found that if I pulled the trigger up towards the receiver instead of to the rear it was much easier (closer to six or seven lbs).

Did you ask him for a Saiga 100 when you ordered it? Or did you ask for a Saiga .308 rifle? The latter is exactly what you want. I would think you have a pretty good foundation for an argument on him eating it and ordering you the one you asked for. Am I incorrect in guessing that you said "Saiga .308" but he ordered the "Saiga 100?"
