I recenctly saw a Mossberg 500 shotgun with a 9 shot magazine. It has wooden furniture but an elongated tube magazine which is not an exstension.

Any idea about the rarity or value of this shotgun compared to the typical mossber 500.

Thanks

20 inch. I might have only had a 8 shot magazine. Not sure but it went all the way to the end of the barrel.

I think they call that a security model. It's actually a 7-round magazine tube plus 1 in the chamber so they call it an 8-shot. Not particularly rare, Big 5 has them on sale often for around $220.

I bought one, and later decided the extra two shots weren't worth the inability to swap out barrels for other applications, so I ended up trading the mag tube and barrel to someone for a standard mag tube, 18.5" security barrel and 28" modified choke barrel for skeet. Thinking about getting a slug barrel now, and maybe a muzzleloading barrel too.

Skeet, skeet, skeet! :)

Actually it is an 8 shot shotgun. I happen to own 3 diffrent 500 in 12, 20, and 410 ga. All of which I own have 20in barrells and 8 shot tubular magazines. You can get them in 9 shots if you which. They can be misidenifided. You can have the 500, the 500 presuader/cruiser, or the 500 special purpose, All of which can have 20 in barrells and 8 shot tubular magazines.

mine is thhttp://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l15/avisamuel/mossberg.jpge 590 and it is a nine shot (one in he chamber)

The picture shows a shorter barrel version. Mine is the long barrel (20"?) but I installed the pistol grip. Makes for a great artillery piece easilly accessible in tight corners...a real wrist wacker, so I dont shoot it as often as I should.

I've got one, hardwood furniture and a mag tube goes all the way to the end of the 20-inch barrel.

Looks rather intimidating with a Pachmayr cruiser grip.
