Glock 21 or XD 45 or HK USP 45

I want a .45 ACP with an accessory rail. I have been giving these three some thought, the only problem I have with the HK is price. Can anyone give me some advice?

FWIW,I'll be selling my USP fullsize 45 pretty soon.I don't shoot it since I got my XD45 4".The G21 has a grip that's just wrong for my hands...:D

Edit to say I'm not trying to sell mine to you, just wanted to show how I rank the three you mentioned...

the G21 is perhaps a bit thicker for the sissy handed guys. though cheaper, XD is pretty new in the scene.
I bought XD40, if the 45 is like that, I'll take my USP45 instead. Reliable, accurate, uber tactical and you know it's HK 100% German made :D
As with anything else, you get what you pay for.

The XD 45 rocks. I have the 4" Service. I've owned two Glock 21's in the past. I'll never go back to Glock.

I've owned them all, I still own the XD45 Tactical.

AFAIK, the accessory rail on the USP is not "standard." You need to either buy accessories from HK or you need to buy an adaptor.

if it was up to me i would go with the xd, the H&K cost to much, the glocks i ain't into for many reasons. plus the xd gives you more capacity than all the others, and it is fitted in a smaller package that is quite comfortable. and xd's are just darn right awesome, with all that money you save not getting the xd you can buy a holster, or ammo, mags or any combo of the three!

Many people share that same problem you have with the HK. The G21 is a fine weapon, I do regret selling mine. The XD45acp is the newborn puppy of the universe right now, I'll be getting one in a couple weeks. It all depends on the size of you hands really. I've always thought that phrase was a cliche but it really counts this time. Are your hands huge or average size? Both the 21 and XD are powerfull, high capacity, reliable, accurate pistols you just have to decide regular or supersize. Good luck

I would go USP 45. I've just had ZERO issues w/ mine :D and unbelieveable accuracy

For those who have shot both the Glock 21 and XD45, does the XD45 have more muzzle flip due to its higher bore axis or does the recoil feel about the same?

I have shot the hell out of all three. My personal choice is the Glock 21 for personal reasons. The trigger is best of the three for me (maybe just because I am used to it) and the thick grip compliments my hands. If the grip of the Glock 21 is not too thick for you --find one to grope before you buy any of them-- then I'd go for the Glock. For me, they have the least felt recoil and are as accurate as I am.

If it is too thick, I'd go for the XD. They are every bit as reliable as the Glock and a bit cheaper. And all of the mall ninjas seem to like them because they are the latest and greatest :neener: They are as accurate as the glock, too. The biggest difference between the two is the XD will be a bit cheaper and the grip is noticably thinner, which is more comfortable for most people, but not me. Because the top slide is a bit thicker, I notice that muzzle flip is a bit more on the XD than I was used to with the Glock 21, but that could just be how I grip them. You cant go wrong with either one.

Although Hk makes perhaps the sexiest firearms on the planet, alongside Sig-Sauer, I am not a fan of the USP. It is as thick as the Glock 21 but feels even less ergonomic and, as mentioned, the rail is not standard. The lights and accessories for the USP 45s are more expensive than standard accessories and they cannot be interchanged should you wanna throw on an M3 tactical light and then throw it on a quad-railed M4 down the road when you really wanna get tactical. I am sure they are probably capable of greater accuracy than the other choices, but I am not a fan of the trigger pull and I have never been able to hit squat with a USP and I've never taken the training time to learn how when I can shoot bullseyes at 20m with a Glock 21 out of the box every time...

I'd hate to suggest outside of these three, but there are some very high quality 1911 .45s with tactical rails, like the Kimber Warrior and Sig GSR to name a few. And speaking of Sig, the P220R is a railed version of the Sig P220. The military is considering the Sig P220R as the replacement for the Beretta 92 9mm in the upcoming Joint Service Small Arms Program or whatever its called which is scheduled to take place late this year or early next. It is dark earth in color (which supposedly doesnt stand out with night vision goggles), is available with threaded barrel, and is fully anodized for durability. There are also standard P220Rs with trigger options like single action only (SAO), the glock-like consistant trigger pull of DAK, or the standard double action/single action (DA/SA). These run about the same price as the Hks. ...Of course these are if you don't mind single stacks...

Just my personal opinions...

The USP/Mark 23 series is great if you're like a mercenary, or a bounty hunter, or someone who may have to use the weapon frequently and in poor conditions.

to me the H&K is a fine weapon, but personally now i don't think that there is enough value to the H&K's to justify paying the difference between say the xd or even the glock for that matter, now if his critera called for a da/sa or a threaded barrel then that would be one thing, but it dosen't! flame away!

If you want trouble free buy a used HK USPf in 45, people buy them then shoot them and dump them, this is a great avenue to get into a USP. I have nearly 30K through my USPf. I reload so that helps with the feeding the gun deal, but I swear that the USP is the most accurate 45 auto I have owned to date.

I have owned all kinds of 1911's, a few S&W autos in 45, Sig 220, shot both the Ruger and Glock in 45ACP, but I cost aside the USP is the gun for me! It works well, and it is balls on accurate! Oh yeah! The little bro is no slouch either!

Of the three I chose the USP Elite.
The Glock 21 never has felt right in my hand and I just can't get all warm and fuzzy with the XDs.
I don't regret my choice.

The USP, espeically the Tactical model, was designed to be extremely accurate. After all, let's not forget the patriarch of the USP family, the Mark 23.

If you have the money and are willing to spend it, then go for the USP. If not, I doubt you'll be disappointed with an XD or GLOCK.
