Hi folks, Got a new-to-me sword this weekend and the blade is covered with what appears to be dried cosmoline or oil. I've tried wd-40, no joy. Before I ramp up the solvent attack, anyone dealt with this before or have any thoughts?
TIA
Al

Al,
I had one that I wrapped the blade in old rags that I had soaked in a mix of kerosene and motor oil and just let it sit for a day. That took care of it. Good luck.

Mineral Spirits should also take that stuff off. :)

Forget the kerosene and just soak it for 24 hours in mineral spirits. Grips off. Although a plastic brush and mineral spirits will work just as well.
