you think some of the early used SKS rifles imported from China
may have been used in Vietnam? mine appears to have been
well used and carried in a tropical area? because the way the
metal has a darkened patina look from jungle use?

Thanks for the site OBG. I wish there was a site where you could enter your SKS's serial number and trace it's history. But I guess that wouldn't be too smart though.

I've heard that most of the Yugo's history is untraceable because the records were destroyed during the Balkans "war".

It's very unlikely your SKS was used in Vietnam.
This is for political reasons.

The Chinese and Russians gave the NVA large quantities of weapons, which the NVA never gave back, nor intended to give back.

There was no love lost between the North Vietnamese and the Chinese, who have been traditional enemies for thousands of years. In fact, they fought a brief war after the South fell.

So it's unlikely the NVA would send an SKS all the perilous way down the Ho Chi Minh Trail, use it in combat, then ship it all the way back to the Chinese border, and return it to somebody they hated and distrusted at best.

What the NVA got, they kept.

As for tracing a military weapon by serial number, all nations consider serial number information, deployment, and quantities of weapons to be Official State secrets. Those records are rarely or never revealed.
