Was thinking of replacing the barrel with a 4" for ICORE competition.

A reasonable thing to do?

Any inherent problems with this sort of replacement?

Any chance the weapon will reject the transplant?

Currently the gun is fine, no problems.

No problem at all doing the barrel transplant... S&W will do it for you if you send them the gun. If you want a "match" barrel on it, talk to Clark Custom Guns (http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/): they're famous for their match barrel jobs on revolvers. (Since Jerry Miculek lives and works there, you may understand why their revolver work is famous! :D )
