i was wondering what different ways you guys zero your ar-15's at what ranges i mean, 25- 50, 100 etc. The reason i ask is because in the army we do it at 25meters, but lately i have been dabling with the 50yd zero with ny personal ar which makes point of impact just a hair from point of aim, 25yds to out past 200yds. just wondering what you guys do, do you zero your red dots the same as your buis or not! thanks!

I zero any .223 at 50yds. Best overall trajectory window for normal situations.

I zero using the large aperture, its what gets used the most. Been meaning to get an XS same-plane sight since, well, since they came out. One of these days...

I dont have access to a 50 yard range, so I zero at 25 yards. My only AR at the moment is a 9mm. When I actually get off my butt and put a 5.56 together, I'll use the Santose IBZ.

One more note, I use an A1 rear sight with the A2 aperture.

For a 5.56mm AR using irons, I zero at 50yds with the Santose zero. If it is a non-A2 sight, I use a same plane aperture rear sight as well. If it is an A2 sight, I adjust the drum per the Santose method.

Aimpoints, EOtech, Reflex, etc. - zero at 50yds with Santose zero.

About the only thing I don't zero that way are scopes with a ballistic cam/BDC that require a different method.

Best overall trajectory for 5.56x45...Oddly enough I like to zero my optics just beyond that(60-75yds if possible), I don't know why though:o !
