I'm looking into picking up a SigArms GSR Revolution in basic stainless and I see that it comes with Novak's magazines. I've known about the Novak's sights that seem to be quite popular but the magazines are something I can't find anything about. Any of you guys and gals have any experience with magazines by Novak's and what did you think about them?

Personally, I like the Novak/ACT mags. They are the OE mags for the Rock Island 1911s. I bought a few extras for those guns and some for my SIG P220s. Mine have worked very well with no issues concerning feed or craftsmanship/durability. A bit stiff at first. Some folks have not had luck with them, though.

I don't have any experience with other mags, but I've run close to 1000 rounds through my GSR Revolution and had no problems with the Novak mags. In fact I found a cheapo mag in the garbage at my range and even it works pretty well. :)

I grabbed the cheapo figuring I could use it for malfunction drills. :p Interestingly enough it's been pretty reliable; a couple of FTFeed on the last round are the only problems I've had.

I ordered 5 mags from Sig and I have been very impressed with them. They seem to function as well as my Wilsons. They do eject from the gun much faster than my Wilsons do. So for competing they actually work better. I intend to order some more from Sig (they seem to have one of the best prices) as soon as I can.

I have to go against the flow here. The first thing I did with my new Revolution rail was take out the Novak mags and replace them with Wilsons. I also like to use Powermags, but have never been fond of Act/Novak/S&W mags. I don't care for the basplate design they use, I've read too many reports of the feed lips cracking, and my WIlsons are "proven". Good luck.

I use both wilson and novak mags. The novak's feed/slide lock better in some guns; however, you have to keep an eye on the feed lips as they are more likely to crack than the wilson mags

When I had my GSR, I was really happy and impressed by the Novak magazines. I never had one failure with the mags or the gun.

But it's gone and replaced with something else.

The feed lip cracking thing came about from a company-acknowledged bad batch a couple of years ago...and the company exchanged all problem mags sent to them, IIRC.

I haven't heard of any problems with ACT mags recently...I'm about to order a few myself.

Any chance of a Novak/Act-Mag group buy? I'd go in for one or two.

They're relatively inexpensive at CDNN (http://www.cdnninvestments.com/colt.html).
