Which bipod for F/TR-class?

The project my heart is currently longing for is to get into F-class shooting, using a .308. Nothing fancy, probly a Savage 10fp (LE2B, if I think I can get it past my wife; wonderful woman!).

But I'm not able to spring for it just yet. So, I'm going to put a bipod on a 10/22 and 'repurpose' it as a F-class trainer. It's got a 6-24x42 Tasco varmint scope (not great, but functional), a heavy 16.5" barrel and an aftermarket laminate stock that should take to the bipod okay without screwing with the free-floated barrel. The way I figure it, I'll find someplace windy (easy around here), hunker down prone, and learn to deal with it. I just want to make sure the bipod I buy now will be suited to the .308 I want to put it on down the road. The one I'm considering is this one:

Does that look right? 9-13" with swivelly functions and 'leg notches' (?) that I can't actually envision, never having handled one of the things. If that will suffice, I'll get it and a pile of .22lr and it'll be off to the races. Thanks for your input.

I don't know anything about bipods, but I am hoping F-class shooting will attract more shooters to high-power shooting.

It seems counter-intuitive, but more people probably own the accurate rifle, scopes and bipods for F-class than own the jacket, spotting scope, rifle, etc. for "as-issued" military class shooting.

I would think any of the mid- to high-end bipods would serve nicely.

ChristopherG,

I'm at work, so I can't go to the Midway site to see what bipod you are considering, but having shot F Class for 4 years, I can tell you that most use the Harris swivel bipod with leg notches in either 6-9" or 9-13" height. BTW, saw one of those break just last weekend at the Pennsylvania State LR Championship Match. Here is a bipod that I have seen a couple times that is really nice, but really expensive:

Always happy to see more shooters join in on this fast growing sport. Oh, and the 1k smile lasts for the entire drive home.
