I have one of the first 229's that came out in .40. I see now that they offer the gun in a 9mm. Are the dimensions of the gun the same? In other words if I got a new barrell and mags would it work?
I know that all is needed for 357 Sig is a barrell swap but was wondering if the 9 can be done also on the same frame.

It has to be a conversion barrel as noted above. A factory SiG barrel will not work.

Like the poster above mentions - you'll need a Bar-Sto barrel for 9mm, as opposed to an OEM Sig barrel for .357. And of course mags.
Word is the Bar-Sto barrels are more accurate than factory barrels too. :)

And of course mags.
.40/.357 magazines work just fine for 9mm rounds...

...mags will work & carry more rounds!
BUT: I would not trust the conversion as a SD/HD or CCW.
