I see and hear very little about this model. I've got a chance to grab one and would lke any firsthand knowledge about them. Thanx!

If it's a good deal, I'd jump on it! I have a shooting buddy who has one. It's a good shooter like all T/C's. .58 is argueably about the best caliber for hunting that you're likely to find. Good compromise between accuracy, controllability and effectiveness on game. I've shot his a few times and I like it more than my .54's. Though it's quite a bit harder on the shoulder with heavy loads.

I don't know used prices, but they sell for $500 new. New, there's no price difference between the .58 and the .54, so I don't know if .58 would have any added value on the used market. I'd say go with general used T/C Hawken prices as your guide. You can probably get an idea by checking the ones sold on firearms auction sites, or maybe some kind soul will have a Blue Book handy.

Sell for new? They've been discontinued for a number of years now. This is only the 2nd one I'd ever seen. Funny since with everyone "needing" the biggest and baddst super magnum currently available, the .58 never caught on.

The TC Big Boar is no longer available but this is. http://www.foxridgeoutfitters.com/detail.cfm?section=7&subsection=34,39&product=3504

I started to go that route but ended up getting a Renegade Lower off Ebay and topping it off with a Green Mountain 32" .58 cal. 1 in 70" twist barrel.

This one will be my 2nd 58...I love the way they take down deer! Back in the 80's I helped teach the muzzle loading segment of the hunter safety class. A lot of kids were introduced to B P with my old Lyman 58 that is named "Puff". The kids loved shooting that rifle....Sorry I was ratteling... Can't wait to get that rifle home!

I never could figure that out either. I've been a fan of the .58's for a long time but usually end up settling for .54 because of availability.

Fox Ridge Outfitters is the T/C custom shop. They've had .58's for some time now. They sell them for the same price as the other calibers, is where my info came from.

$250 is a great price for any of the T/C Hawkens. Sounds like you have a winner! Enjoy. :)
