A great day at the range, with Swedish porn

Went out shooting a couple of days ago, and had about as nice a time at you could ever wish for.

When I got there, a kid was using the 100 yard firing point to sight in his brand new Mossberg 30-06, and having some trouble. I helped him get the rings tightened down properly on the scope, and had him come down to the 25 yard point and fire a shot, then figured out the adjustment to center it. Second shot was dead center, so sent him back to the 100 yard point to tweak it. He was happy after a couple more shots, and I had the place to myself.

The 10/22s are running beautifully, and many pleasing groups were fired from the 50 yard line. After a bit, the wind picked up and started spreading out the little bullets, so I broke out the centerfires. The old 1942 vintage Swede M38 has been gathering dust for a while, so I had brought it along. The eyes aren't what they used to be, but a stick on aperture on the glasses brings open sights nearly into focus. Best group of the day from 100 yards looks like this.

Not too shabby for a rifle that's nearly retirement age.:)

Nice group. How about some more pictures of the rifle? It looks really sweet from what I can see.

The close up of that insane group ( ) is obscuring the rest of the rifle. More pics! :D

I don't have any pictures, but today I shot a 95-3x slow fire prone and a 92-2x rapid fire prone while I was practicing for the CMP Western Games today with my Swedish M96.

I need to drift my front sight just slightly to the left, though. I have been having to hold over to the right a bit too much for my match load for some reason as of late.

Mostly I shot three or four into a group like that and one or two out a few inches high. That was about the only really round five shot string of the day out of the Swede. The sky was full of little moving clouds and the light changed from bright sun to cloudy bright every few minutes. The sights look a bit different every time the light changes. I should try blackening them next time.

I thought I had some full length pics of the rifle, but they don't seem to be on this machine; they may be on the laptop or the usb drive. I'll try to get some on photobucket and post them. It's a pretty run of the mill M38. Luckily, the worst ding in the stock is under the bolt knob, and doesn't show much. According to the stock disk, it has what the Swedes consider kind of a worn barrel. It doesn't seem too bad to me.
