i have a question for you veteran hog hunters, or any hunter really. I was wondering what would be a good rifle, and caliber choice for hog hunting. i will be hunting them in the griffin georgia area, if that matters. what is the minimum caliber you would want to carry in the bush while hunting hogs, what just don't have enough? i was thinking that a mosin nagant m38 would be a good brush gun and great for those close targets at 50-100yds, maybe farther, but i don't want to put optics on there just irons, maybe a mojo micro click at the most but, want to keep it as original as possible. i think the 7.62x54r woud be plenty, and i have been thinking that if i do go that route, i will use some of those 180gr sp's. if i am totally wrong please let me know i am open to all info and suggestions ya'll have. Thank you all!

Your 7.62X54R should work fine.

You'll get alot of opinions on this one. Many guys hunt fairly large hogs with large handguns. But, after talking to a few others that have done it, and they want plenty of gun.
In any case 7.62x54R is plenty for about any sized hog you're likely to encounter.

Yep, the one you have will work fine.
I've taken them with 30-30, 30-06 and 12 guage slugs in the past.
