The directions say…

5. Liberally apply Blue Wonder™ Gun Cleaner gel again, to the areas to be blued, and “while the gel is on the surface of the metal”, use a propane torch and heat the area until it is “hot to the touch” (about 125oF to 130oF – too hot to touch but not hot enough to cause a burn). If a propane torch is not available, you can use a hair dryer or heat gun. (Remove or protect wood, plastic or composite components!) Heating the metal while the gel is on it, draws rust particles and residue out of the pores. Heat also removes moisture, expands the pores and activates Blue Wonder™ Gun Blue. This step is very important, in order to obtain Factory Blue results!

My gun barrel has been polished to a high polish and cleaned with Denatured alcohol. So I doubt I need this gun cleaner. But anyway…

Can I apply this stuff and then bring the barrel up to temperature in an oven? (maybe an hour) I would think that this would be a more consistent temperature throughout and would hold temperature long enough to do the whole barrel without applying anymore heat.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks,
Dave

If it's been sitting for more than a few minutes in a normal environment it has already started collecting moisture, so I'd use the cleaner. I've done one gun with it and am very happy with the results. I wound up with about three coats to get it as dark as I wanted. After I was finished I hosed it down liberally with gun oil then wrapped it in Saran Wrap and let is sit for about three days.

Thanks browningguy.
I’m going to use it, I’m just wondering if maybe I can bring the barrel up to temperature in an oven. How did you heat yours?
