Saw this on the military channel. Top 10 battle rifles.
Agree or disagree?

#8: 1903 Springy
#7: Steyr AUG
#6: Mauser 98K
#5: FN-FAL
#4: M-1
#3: SMLE
#2: M-16
#1: AK

problem, definition of "battle rifle" i dont consider an M16, AK, or STG44 a "battle rifle" id draw the line at the M14 and maybe the FAL.

just my personal opinion

Edit: noticed the backwards numbering.
Okay, why is the FAL better than the M14, and a couple of bolt actions are said to be better than the M14?

depends on whether top means quality, quantity produced/used, or popularity. i'm guessing they mean quantity

They showed a scale of different criteria. Things like innovative, length of service, etc., etc. Also spoke some of number produced, which would help explain the AK, SMLE, FAL, 98K and M1

I'd rank the M-14 a lot higher than #10. I had one way back yonder in '65
and it proved it could get the job done, in Uncle Sam's army. Heavy as it
was, it wasn't for the frail frame guy's~!:uhoh: :eek:
