I am new to the list and was wondering what the value is for an early Colt CAR-15. It has about a 98% NRA condition rating. It is the early Colt CAR-15 with the 2 position collapsable rubberized butt stock, bayonet lug, etc. It is a really nice item. It was made in about 1972 based on the serial number.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

does it have a bird cage flash hider, or the three prong? collector's firearms here in houston has 2 1972 era sp-1's with birdcage, triangle hand guards , going for about 1600 right now.

that old of an AR should have a 1/12 twist barrel
it may be worth a bit to a collector
but for modern length ammo,
its not as practical as a 1/7 or 1/9 barreled AR
