Picked this item up today. Just points perfect for me, but I'm already figuring on bobbing the hammer.

Can anyone tell me the DOB on this jewel. SN is 245MM255xx. Barrel appears to be a one-piece.

Somewhere along the line it has been refurb'd and nickel'd, but SN's match on pistol and barrel. The inside is as neat as a pin. The magazine disconnect has been removed, and trigger pull is a sweet 3#. Barrel to slide is very tight, and frame to slide fit is good as well. Range report this weekend.

Besides Stephen A. Camp's great website, are there other resources on the net for the HP?

The "MM" in the serial number indicates 2000 production. FN uses a two digit letter code like the German gun makers, but their system is not intuitive like the German version. I believe Stephen Camp's website has an explanation of what letters stand for what numbers.

Thanks. I think I answered my own question.

The MM doesnt' work out, it's faint and I believe now it's an NM instead, making it 1990.

But I would have sworn it was a T-series. The top of the slide doesn't have a ridge, it's plain. The sights are the old type and the finish underneath has some pitting. I would swear it's older than a 1990.

The sights in your picture are not the old type. They are the standard fixed sights for a MkII/MkIII era Hi-Power and appropriate for a 1990 pistol.

A T-series would have a "T" as part of the serial number.

I thought all newer HP's had the MKII rib.

Yeah, it's an MKIII from 1990.

Hello. No, just the Mk II pistols have it.

Best.

Nice, I've always liked that one. Please tell me you're not bobbing the hammer as in a DOA gun? Please tell me you mean your just having it ground a tad.

It's just my opinion, but, all Hi-Powers should have the rowel (Commander style) hammer. Just don't think it looks right otherwise. Do like the contrast of the hammer and the rest of the pistol, verry nice.

Purdy. Just be sure that the sunlight off the metal doesn't blind you.
