Ok, there are two pics. One that is what I started with….labeled “before”. The second pic is what I ended with, labeled of course “after”.

Part of the wildness in my opinion on the “before” target is me just getting the feel for the gun and getting the feel for the bench rest I shot it from. This was my first time ever to really do anything like this, so I am sure I have a lot to learn. In the second pic, the group is just slightly to the right, but to be honest, I think it has everything to do with my vision. I really struggle at these distances and using Bass Pro’s “rifle tube” is pretty challenging to use, especially for a first timer. Its basically a concrete looking drain pipe that is just over 100 yards long, underground. It is lined with some sort of sound proofing material and has one hell of an echo when you engage the bang switch. Wild experience to say the least. At any rate, I feel like I did pretty well with it. The group is about 1 inch to the right, but its consistent and that’s what I want. Again, I think it might be my eyes more than the gun. All of the shots in these two targets were 130gr Federal. I have one other target that I shot after I made my adjustments and it was shot with 150gr Federal. Those shots seemed to be a lot less tighter for some reason. I wouldn’t even call it a group to be honest. It was just interesting to see that after I did so well with the 130gr, the 150gr made me look like I needed to start over.

Equipment:

Savage 110 .270 Winchester (cant tell it was ever used, but was told 50 rounds through it)

Simmons 3-9X40 scope.

This was a package offered by some retailers (I believe Wal-Mart was one of them) that was with the gun as you see it.

My cost in the gun:

$275.00 shipped to my FFL. It came with a cheap plastic hard case too.

$19.00 for my FFL fee and Priority Mailing out the hard copy FFL

$20.00 for a padded sling

$314.00 total.

I can honestly say I got more enjoyment out of this than I have recently with just simple handgun range trips.

The best part is now you've got to clean it.

You did remember to get a cleaning rod and kit, didn't you? :D
