Southern Ohio Gun has an ad in their flyer for a Legacy .50 muzzleloader. Is anyone familiar with these? They’re selling for $70. Are they better than the CVA’s I’ve seen at Wal-Mart?

Maybe, but look at the K31's out there for $89. They're awesome rifles.

I shouldered a Palmetto Legacy inline at a gun show, and I thought that the rifle looked nice. It had a pull back (with a knobby stem) plunger type action similar to a Lyman Cougar or the Traditions Trapper. It also had a wood stock that while decent looking, was maybe a little thin in the wrist area with a shallow drop to it. I didn't work the action, but overall it looked like a decent gun with not the greatest ergonomics. For $70 bucks it's probably a fair deal but I'm assuming that they shoot okay. They usually retail for about $99 or more.
If you want a comfortable rifle you might want to look further, but you're not going to find many with wood stocks at that price.

I just bought a Brolin Arms, Legacy .50, in-line on e-Bay. Thought I'd try out some sabot rounds, but haven't had the chance yet.
It's made in China and has a somewhat rudimentary action, but the rear sight is very nice: adjustable for windage and elevation in small increments. It's drilled and tapped for a scope and the wood stock is a very nice dark red stain. For $80, including shipping, it's a nice beginners gun.
Grab it and have fun with it!

Sorry, I thought that it was made by Palmetto, but it sounds like the same gun otherwise.

Thanks for the info. What kind of caps does it take?

I emailed an inquiry to someone selling one on Gunsamerica.com and he responded that it takes 209's.

Here's the Italian Palmetto that I mistakenly thought that you were referring to:
