I have been looking around and trying to decide what kind of holster/gunbelt I would use for hunting with my Redhawk this year. I have been leaning towards an Uncle Mike's Sidekick worn cross draw on a 2 1/4" duty belt. It seems to be the most efficient method of carrying a revolver of that size to hunt with and also the least costly. (I don't mean to be a cheap skate, but sometimes, a fella has to do what a fella has to do.) Anyone else carry that way around here? What would you folks recommend?

Galco makes a holster and a belt for it. Its cross draw. I was thinking of getting one for my superblackhawk.

Those are nice looking holsters, but I am afraid that is out of my price range. I had a guy that sells Uncle Mike's equipment bring me a gunbelt today, but it is to big in the waist. Even though I can adjust it smaller, it makes it too bulky for my taste. I will have to find the correct size, if that is the way I go. I have also thought about getting a good quality gunbelt to use with the Sidekick. So many choices and not enough money to go around. Oh well.

Well when I make any purchase for my firearms, I always ask myself what type of hell is this thing going to have to go through and also how long do I want to keep it before I get rid of it. Honestly the galco would be money well spent. But if you currently need something quick and dirty look for a ballistic nylon bandoleer style holster.

I also have a good kydex holster but I tend to use this more. Maybe (mis)perception but I think it is quieter.

My dad and I both use Triple K holsters. Very similar to the Ruger hoster he already had. Basic leather flap holster with a snap. The one he already had didn't use a snap, it has a swivel type thingy that I obviously don't know the name of. For a belt I use a 2" or so $12 walmart utility/workmans belt. Usually found in the hardware section, not the 1" width found with the clothes. The belt could stand to be thicker, I was surprised how well it works.

For this season, I am settling for an Uncle Mike's Sidekick, with a 2 1/4" duty belt. Next year, I hope to get a Galco, either crossdraw or bandolier shoulder holster.

Since I hunt from my vehicle I prefer shoulder holsters for large revolvers. I just got a Bianchi HuSH for my super Blackhawk and I'm quite pleased with it. Essex
