Gun stories, first experiences!

Does everyone remember their first firearm experience? I was talking with my cousin just a few days ago and recalled the first time I was exposed to guns. It's also a great hunting story!

When I was around six or eight years old my dad took me deer hunting for the first time ever. It was November 15th and there was no snow on the ground but it was a cool November morning. He had his rifle packed (I still own the very same Enfield), I was allowed to take my trusty pop gun (the kind which shot a cork attached to a string) and we woke up around 3 a.m. and made our way to the woods. The details up until the actual hunt are not important. When we got to the hunting area my dad told me to remain still and don't make a sound. We sat up against a large log laying on the ground. After daybreak a deer approached about 50 yds out. I sat still and wondered why my dad wasn't trying to shoot this buck. I turned to my right and saw dear old dad sawing logs, maybe the one we were propped against. I slowly reached over to shake my dad's arm, trying not to be too loud I said, "Dad, there's a deer!" I shook his arm again and repeated, "Dad, there's a deer!" Dad woke up surprised, but just a bit too quickly. His startled reaction was enough for Bambi to see him, away he went. Dad jumped to his feet and raised the rifle but was unable to get a shot off. The entire family still laughs at the story 30+ years later. Too bad dad isn't around to laugh with us!
