A friend asked if I would be interested in a couple of Japanese O/U shotguns. I allowed as I might be, so he brought them over. He bought these in Japan, when he lived there, a number of years back.
They turned out to be Nikko guns, both model 5000. They have beautiful wood, vent rib barrels ( including between the barrels), and are both 12 ga. One has Mod/Cyl barrels, the other has skeet/skeet barrels. The guns are tastefully engraved. Neither barrel has choke tubes.
Each of the shotguns is in a white, plastic Nikko gun case, with papers.
I paid $1000 for the two of them. I have not been to the range yet. According to my friend, they are both unfired.
The same friend gave me a two year old Ft Knox Titan 37" safe, so at least I have a place to store the shotties. :)
He also has a Nikko Golden Eagle Model 7000 rifle in 30-06 that I will probably buy. Beautiful gun.

For those who don't know, these are the folks who made the Model 101 for Olin/Winchester.

There's a full page of small print on Nikko history in the Blue Book, but no prices. Just to focus on one small part...

"Olin/Winchester was only allowed two permanent personel, hardly enough to monitor the activities of a factory which employed up to 400 people. As an example, when walnut stock blanks arrived from France, Kodensha(Nikko) took first pick, and Olin got what was left over."

Here are the two new editions to the collection. I wish I could take a picture that would do justice to the wood and finish on these shotguns.

Mannlicher: My brother in law had one in 25-06 a few years back. For some reason he let it go. That was one fine rifle.

Glad your back home, my friend, pm sent.

Thanks, and those are good looking guns. You know you got them for half price or less.

Mannlicher,

You have been had/taken by your "friend", send those shotguns to me and forgive your "friend" for his deceit, you will be a much happier person.

J/K, :neener: Very Nice shotguns, some people have all the luck.
