I'm so angry, the tension bar in my Kershaw rainbow leek just, like broke. I have no clue what happened. Has anyone else had this problem?
:cuss:

You are angry a tool broke? You expected a $30ish dollar knife to last forever? They aren't indestructable, give Kershaw a call and see if they will fix it. Heck, worst thing they can say is no.

They arent POS $30 knives you are talking about they are pretty high end
It was made in January of this year and i only got it in July. I have had a kershaw before and it lasted. I know it must be a single flaw because i know a few guys who have the same knife and they use it for hard work, alot more often than i do.

Seriously, man, it's a spring. Springs break.
Call or email Kershaw and they will send you a new torsion bar. Comes in a pretty brown First Class bubble mailer, you'll have it in three days or less. Or get an RMA and mail the knife to them, and they'll clean, lube, and sharpen it for you while they have it. All for free. They'll even send you two if you ask nicely.
My Blackout is on its third torsion bar in five years. Considering how hard and often I use it, I think that is great performance.
I *heart* Kershaw.

TDH,
Call Kershaw. Tell them the spring broke. They'll tell you to send it to them. Wrap it up and send it to Kershaw and they'll fix it or send a new one. Chill while you wait for it to come back all minty fresh. It's literally that simple.

I know, I have one in pocket as I type this (although mine did only cost $36). As others have mentioned, it's just a spring. Call Kershaw and they will probably replace it.

Kershaw have the best customer service in the knife industry in my opinion. My leek's spring broke so I called them up. They covered the international shipping cost of sending the knife to them in the US, cleaned and sharpened the knife, replaced the spring, included a spare one in the package and sent it back, all for free.
As a thankyou, I bought an avalanche :D

THanks for the great responses. I Think i will ship the knife back to them so i dont screw installing a new torsion bar and have to send it in then.
And BTW its a torsion bar not a spring:D

Their turn around is incredibly fast also. I sent in a Whirlwind and a Chive a couple months ago, and the knives were back in my hands in under two weeks. Couldn't have been at the factory more than a few days, given how long the mail takes. The Whirlwind was cleaned up and resharpened in addition to the new torsion bar, but the Chive was completely replaced. Not sure why, but I ain't complaining.

I lost a pocket clip screw from a Kershaw folder once. I called them and 2 days later via fedex, I had 3 new screws and a new clip. No charge. I offered to pay, it was my fault the screw was lost afterall. They said no.

I've also had good service from Leatherman and Wenger. Of course, Wenger's no longer around.
But it's not like Leatherman has to have good customer service - they have no real competition.

There are plenty of multi-tools to compare favorably with the Leatherman.
Not least the SOG Powerlock (http://www.sogknives.com/pwrlck.htm). I wear mine daily.

Actually, they are. They have since been bought into Victorinox, and new models are still being marketed under the trade mark.

Kershaw has a great reputation for customer service. If them a call and they will probably mail you out a few new springs. This happens more than you think because the opening and closing the Leek is so addictive. They are good knives, sometimes parts break. You should buy a BUL, back up Leek!
