Did anyone here see the 5/15 CNN AWB Agitprop?

"Agitprop"= Agitation Propaganda. This is propaganda designed to arouse the people to unrest in preparation for actions of violence or social disorder. It is normally followed by mob action such as strikes and riots but in this case they merely left the viewer hanging on.

I saw an interesting bit of carefully orchestrated agitprop by the CNN weinerdog and a fellow who purported to be a law enforcement officer. I turned it on after the opening introductions so I don't know the characters.

The former had a vague resemblence to Chris Farley, though he didn't crush any beercans on his forehead nor belch. The latter was a rather pallid gentleman with a pot belly. I heard allusions to the "Broward County sheriff", which wouldn't surprise me. He seemed both ill informed and politically motivated.

They gave what might be described as an idiots guide to riflery then an impassioned plea as to why their opinions were correct. During this they kept repeating the usual lists of disinformation about this subject. They never got to the crux of the matter, which is that criminals will have their weapons of choice regardless.

Upon closing the programming moved on to another unrelated but equally grating discussion.

I was surprised they didn't have a toll free VPC donation hotline.

I saw that crap. The CNN guy was talking to the Broward County Sheriff. He seems to be the type that thinks guns are OK if you can hunt with them. He kept referring to his shotgun that can shoot birds. I have to agree with your propaganda comment. There wasn't a bit of objectivity in that piece, except for maybe the 30 seconds spent talking about why the NRA wants the ban to go away.

Anti-Second Amendment bigotry on the Clinton News Network? Why, how very surprising!

I saw it as well. The Good Sheriff held his duck shotgun in one arm, a full-auto AK in the other. Then he proceeded to have one of his deputies fire both a semi and a full-auto into some cinderblocks.

If the Good Sheriff had put a couple of slugs into his Duck Shotgun and fired at those cinderblocks, perhaps we might have seen a valid comparison. The fact that he didn't tells all.

We're more than a year away from a vote on the extension of the "AW" ban, and CNN is going full-tilt to confuse the public (now, which "public policy" group might feed CNN this propaganda?).

House Speaker Danny Hastert today tried to distance himself a bit from Tom Delay on the question of the AW bill being renewed.

Many of us thought that the current political climate was more favorable to us. It looks now like the road is going to be as ugly as ever.

ABC ran a similar piece the other night. Talked about three shootings committed with 'assault weapons.' Nevermind that two of the shootings involved no form of 'assault weapon' and were committed with regular handguns.
Idiots.

This is not going to be a lazy victory. If you think that this ban is going to go away all by itself, you're wrong. But it is winnable. We can prevail through political action.

I have to agree with your propaganda comment. Thank you. A lot of time my writing is too stilted and hard to understand.

My guess is the VPC, which is probably the most well funded of the 'new world order' antigun organizations though I would not be surprised to see this to be a pet project of Some other well heeled "social reformer" like George Soros or the good Turner family.

You are right about the long lag time. My calling it pure agitprop may be a mistaken analysis as it appears in retrospect the only ones it might really agitate are the strong pros and antis (plus whatever children who are watching it). So an alternative formulation is that it is INFOPROP, or misinformation given out not so much to provoke immediate reaction but to lay the groundwork for further efforts toward gathering sympathetic persons.

Considering the shibboleth nature of the concept of gun control they may be trying to do both, to agitate the pro-RKBAs into premature action and to lay groundwork for anti-civil rights command, control and communication networks.

In studying the gun control efforts of the last half century I have developed a great deal of respect for the tenacity and diligence of the world socialist (communist) movement. This is the ideal venue to study their erosion of our society.

Rebecca Peters is, I believe, still in the employ of the Soros Foundation. She has, at one time or another, claimed to have brought the lawsuits against gunmakers plan together and 'kept the pressure on' assault weapons. Her office enjoyed a budget of some millions US$ at the end of the Clinton years. Not much news of her lately, but I cannot imagine her giving up the job!

These people are tenaciously idealistic (to the point of fanaticism) and extremely well-funded and organised- this issue is their chosen course for 'making the world a better place':barf:

We will have to use our numbers and own enthusiasm for liberty against them...vigorously and often- to even hold on to what we have...if we can recover lost ground, such as with the AWB, we may force them on to the defensive. From a global perspective at the moment they are winning and we are losing.:(
