The screw on my front sight on my fixed sight 22/45 seems to love to work itself loose after 300 rounds of shooting. It slowly unscrews itself about 1/4 of a turn every magazine after the barrel gets heated up.

I've tried to use blue Loctite to keep the screw from backing out, but no dice. The gun's fine other than for this, and it's really not that big a deal because it's just an inexpensive little plinker but it annoys me. I'm afraid to try a more permanent fix for fear if I ever needed or wanted to replace the sight, I could not.

I keep meaning to call Ruger to see if they'll at least send me a spare screw and maybe a spare front sight.

Am I stuck living with it? Anyone else have this problem?

I'm surprised that the Blue Loctite didn't hold this, but the Red sure will. You'll need to apply heat however, if you ever need to remove that screw.

I was surprised too. I was going to try scraping off the dab that's already on there and reapplying it if I didn't get any other ideas.

I'm not sure the red is a good idea but it may be the best option given the circumstances.

Be sure to clean it good with break clean, the blue is holding now on mine, after a good cleaning.:)

I had the same problem on mine. Blue Locktite fixed it, but if it doesn't work for yours, red will hold it for sure. As others noted, be sure to clean the threads, and heat till be needed to remove it.
