So last night I stop by the local Big-R (redneck walmart) just to cruise the shelves and see what might be on sale/clearance. I notice a P-32 sitting on the shelf. Low and behold, it's a brand new first generation model. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the lines and slightly smaller dimensions of the first generation models. Not that I needed another mouse gun, but for $241 and it being a NIB gen 1, I figured why not.

Anyone else prefer the earlier models for the same or different reasons?

MachIVshooter, How can you tell it is a first generation?

The P-3AT has major changes from generation one to generation 2, but the P-32 stayed pretty much the same.

Same changes as the P-3. Flat top, one-piece slide and big, tear-drop shaped extractor.

MachIVshooter, are you sure you are not looking at a P-3AT?

The last I heard was only the P-3AT had a flat top slide.

Yup. (http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976759192.htm) (picture #2 illustrates very clearly).

Edit:

K-T has not updated the P-32 images on their website.

The P3AT and the P32 both have the new flat top, extractor and sights. I have a Gen 1 P3AT, and I have never had a misfeed or jam, after 350 rounds so far. I didn't even do the fluff and buff that everyone says "you gotta do". I had a choice between a Gen 1 and a Gen 2 at the gun shop. Both same price. I chose the Gen 1. I feel the triangular front sight's shape helps me point shoot better, both eyes open.

Kel-Tec changed the slides on the P-3AT and P-32, mostly for cost/supply reasons. This resulted in a 2G P-3AT that was 1.1 ounces heavier than the pistol it replaced. The only numbers I have ever seen on the 2G P-32 still list 6.6 ounces, but I am skeptical that it too hasn't gotten a little heavier.

Due to the lighter weight and over/under sight configuration, I prefer the 1G models personally.

I like my 1G P32 a lot. It has never failed me! Good buy. :D

I have two 1st gen P-3ATs and one 2nd gen P-3AT and I too prefer the 1st gen model.

I had two P-32s, but when the P-3AT came out I purchased one and liked it so much that I traded both of the P-32s and got a second, 1st gen P-3AT.

Of course when the 2nd gen P-3AT came out, I had to have one of those too..

1st generation. Very cool. 2nd generation, well, heavier and blockier, but the sights are the reason I don't like them. I can line up the pyramid shape of the 1st gen very quickly and accurately; I shot my CHL recertification with my P-32. The 2nd generation just have miniature sights. They're so small, I don't know what I could do with them.
