Just finished a detail strip and clean. Also refinished the wood. she looks pretty good for a 1942 riot gun.

what are the important areas to lube. I plan to use my favorite oil...FP-10.
Any comments.

So, all the rails inside the reciever, the bolt cam, the little tab on the bolt bottom. drop on the recvr group and blow about. Sound about right?

thanks. I look forward to shooting this gun. It is a 1942, and it appears that it has been fired very little. Any idea what ammo I should start with?

Nice shotgun. Treat it well.

I'd favor something like an oz of birdshot for starters. Even better, 7/8 oz if you can find any.

HTH....

thanks Dave. I have some winchester 1 oz 7 1/2 shot, and some 1 1/8 oz 9 shot target ammo.

I was alos thinking of shooting some reduced recoil 00.

I haven't fired a shotgun, but this 12 sure sounds nice when you pump it.

I suggest getting a lesson or two. How close are you to MD?

A couple things....

Note there's no recoil pad. A plate exacerbates kick because there's no give to it.

You may want to pick up one of the wearable recoil pads like the PAST.

Do read the floater thread up top here about Mounting Techniques.

And some mounts done at home with a shotgun KNOWN TO BE EMPTY are time well spent.....

thanks Dave. I am about 1000 miles away. :)

I will look into the recoil pad.
