How is this classified?

I remember seeing modern cartrigde revolvers (I think Uberti makes them) that were listed as BP only (apparently you can't load them with smokeless loads).

Assuming there were rifles/shotguns with the same characteristic marking, how is that category defined?

Are these modern guns or BP?

IIRC, the "BP Only" marking refers to cartridge loads. Therefore, they would be classed as any other modern cartridge gun.

BP cartridge is still a "modern" cartridge firing firearm,
not to be confused with legal status of muzzleloaders.

I cannot imagine any modern revolver being restricted to BP. On the othe rhand I have seen a number of cap & ball revolvers styled to look like cartridge revolvers. Perhaps that is what we are dealing with here?
