Not G2 or Encore. Ok, I'd like those as well, but I'm interested in the plain old Contender at the moment.

Thanks

Unscrew and remove the forearm and tap out the pivot pin. Unlatch the barrel and remove, simple as that. I haven't pulled it any further down, got into the receiver or anything.

Just to forewarn you, it can be a bit of a PITA the first time around...go to Numerich gun parts and they should have a good break-down of the frame assembly.

Otherwise, just take your time and you should be able to do it without...everything is pretty much obvious as to where it goes.

It looks pretty simple, but I'm afraid catapulting some little part across the room.

Also a question of "before I drive out the pins, do I cock it, leave it uncocked,or cock it and then let the hammer down?" That kind of thing can matter.

Other than changing the barrel or the grips, DON'T. It isn't worth the hassle. Unless your gun was submerged for a while, you shouldn't ever need to. And even if it was, WD-40, penetrating oils, and gun scrubber type products can clean it without having to disassemble the mechanism.

Kind of like those electronic gizmos with the warning "no user servicable parts inside". Well, not exactly like them, but why borrow trouble? If you have some sort of problem with your Contender, send it to the factory, or a qualified smith. Don't risk screwing something up just because you want to "clean it" or see how it works.

if you want to tear it down, tear it down. you arent going to learn unless you do it.
