No, this is not another bait thread for Skunk. :evil:

About a year ago, Spyderco introduced a limited edition Civilian, serial numbered (1,000 knives) with a carbon fiber handle. While I'm not a bona fide knife collector, I bought one just for kicks. I like the looks of the Civilian and I figured it was a good opportunity to obtain a quality Civilian with a bit of unique character.

Now I see that Spyderco has introduced more limited edition, serial numbered, carbon fiber handle models. Specifically, the Delica, Police and the Endura -- maybe more.

Thoughts, opinions?

Hmmm....I'm more of an Emerson guy myself...gotta get CF grips made for my mini-commander.

I don't know why but I never cared for lock back knives or whatever they're called....

Carbon fiber is too slippery - not good for a knife handle. Same goes for stainless steel handles. I prefer G10 or textured synthetic or rubber.

Spydercos are very nice. I esp. like the Police model.

Yeah I figured the carbon fiber handled models are not much good for more than display. Sure looks cool though. :D

In December I'm getting my Lynn Griffith Spec Ops Bowie. 18 months is too long to wait for a knife ... it's gonna hurt me to actually use that knife. Should have ordered an extra one for a wall-hanger.

Don't like 'em, but they seem to hold their value well. I had a Spyderco Ladybug in CF that I carried on my keychain. Even all scratched up, I got my money back out of it. Also bought a CF Dragonfly for $35 and sold it later for over $70. Folks just seem to want them.

I don't like the material for users. Slick, scratches easy, and takes too much maintenance. Give me G10 any day.

You got that right. I paid $60 for my Dragonfly. First was the cool factor, but I wanted/needed a smaller quality knife that had a nicer "less tactical" appearance for nicer use. In fact, it's so light (tons lighter than the all stainless one) that I've really grown to like this knife when wearing lighter dress pants or shorts. Up until a couple years ago, it was my standard "money clip" that I used when flying for business and it never raised an eyebrow. I agree that the scales can get slick, but I don't use it as hard as I do some of my other folders with grippier scales.

Have you played with any of Benchmades knives that are made with CF? They offer alot of grip!!!

I was just going to say, my old (now sold) CRKT M16 carbon fiber had grip to spare. Like the handle was made out of glue.
