I was speaking with an older reloader who shot beau coup PPC way back in the day with his .357mag.

He suggested that a good plinking/target load for .357mag brass was a 158gr solid wadcutter (NOT HBWC) in front of some Winchester W231 & that it was good out to 100-150 yards, stability-wise.

I have never loaded BBWC and wonder if the guy was somewhat optimistic at the range BBWCs lost stability when started at target ammo velocities.

Actually.. I think he meant 158 Semi-wadcutters (SWC) not solid... The general weight of Bevel Based wadcutters is 148, same goes for hollow based wadcutters. I've used the 158's for years and prefer the moly coated ones over the standard lead ones since you will generally get less smoke and leading than the plain lead ones. You can get pretty good accuracy from the semi-wadcutters and a lot of people like them in the larger calibers. I shoot a 180 Semi-wadcutter in my 10mm 610-2 and they are quite accurate.
