www.TSRA.com. Go to the sidebar and click "shooting events." Scroll down to Garand Match and there you are.
Kind of like finding Waldo, except when you find him he has a Garand and an bandolier of ammo.

If you're driving from Austin, and wouldn't mind giving a ride to a couple UT students, please let us know.
We have several members of the UT shooting team who really want to go to this event, but don't have cars. Just PM me with your info and I'll pass you on to them.
Better yet, PM THR member "UTSwabbie", and he'll coordinate everything.

Email Dave Wilson and ask him for Paul Laberge's phone number. There are a number of Austin Rifle Club Members who drive up and run this match every weekend. They shoot EVERY Sunday and are someone you and your guys and girls should hook up with.
They also shoot at the Austin Rifle Club Range in Manor, once a month.

We shot four 30-shot matches each day. Garand. M1 Carbine. Springfield 1903 or 1903A3. Vintage Military Rifle.
Course of fire for all rifles was: 5 sighters @ 200 yards. 10 shots prone slow fire, 10 shots prone rapid fire, (basically 10 shots in a minute with a mag change) 10 shots standing slow fire. We walked down and scored targets after every phase.
David Guthrie from Abilene area won the Garand with a 284. I was second with a 280.
Louis Lamareaux from Austin won the M1 Carbine match with a 262. I was second with a 261.
Ltc Don Tryce won the 1903 Springfield match. I'd never shot my 1903 and the windage was missing a tension spring. Got that replaced Sunday and the ejector broke during the sighters so I had to pull out.
I won the Vintage match with a 272 shooting a K31 Swiss with Swiss ammo. That included a 99X3 in the rapids. Had to hold off with the fixed sights on the K31, but had a pretty dependable hold-off. The gusty wind today ruined standing scores. Lots of wind out of the north right into our faces.
Lots of people Saturday and a nice crowd today. Probably 50 shooters total both days. Most people shot more than one match. Some shot every match both days.
Lots of fun. I loaned some 15 year old my AR and let him shoot most of the matches today. I think he is hooked for TSRA Junior Team. He shot VERY well in all positions for a new shooter.
Besides the listed guns we saw Mausers. Swiss 1911s. Swedish Mausers. A Krag. P17. Brit 303. Fun to shoot those old guns in a match where you could tell what they really could do.
