Grand Raptor Grip

Here is a question for anyone who owns the Kimber Grand Raptor or has handled one.

I saw it has "scaled serrations" on the front strap. Other Kimber pistols, such as an Eclipse, have 30 lines-per-inch front strap checkering- which provide a really nice grip. My question is, how do the two grips compare?

How does the grip feel on the Grand Raptor (in your opinion)? Anyone have a problem with it? Does anyone find the Grand Raptor too fancy overall? I really like the look of it; I'm just not sure about the scaled serrations on the front strap.

I have a Raptor II w/internal extractor. The scales are a little...unusual, but they grow on you. The scaled front strap provides (imo) a really good grip. It compares favorably to Ed brown's "Chain link" style checkering.

They feel very ridged and rugged at first but as Lebben said they grow on you. If you put 50 or so rounds through it continously your hands will feel scratchy, but that may vary for different people.
