Here is a pic of a nice 7 pt buck taken here in South Carolina with my 10mm Longslide. Ammo was 200 gr XTP load from Doubletap. Range 35 yards....complete penetration of both shoulders[I hit a fraction to far foward]. The buck made a couple of "I'm falling, and I ain't gonna get up' leaps....he made it about 20 yards and folded up. Live wieght was 155 lbs.

Good job. Is that a Tic under his ear?

The XTP entered slightly high[shooting from a 15' ladder stand] and in the shoulder, through shoulder blade, through the first rib bone, destroying lungs and the main vessels leading down into the heart. The bullet actually exited the buck's "armpit" under the front leg, then back into the leg right beside the "elbow joint".....by this time, the bullet was lossing a bit of steam, and the wound track is getting smaller-damage is getting less. Bullet missed the leg bone on the off side, and exited with a trigger finger diameter exit wound. All in all, I'm very pleased witht he performance.

Yup, that is a tic:rolleyes:

Great pic, beatiful buck, and a nice shot too, Will. 35 yards would really be stretching it for me.

Congratulations Will. I shot a similar sized whitetail last year with the 480 Ruger and I could never find an exit wound with the Horandy 325gr XTP. Mine was at about 50-60 yds and it ran about 50 yds or so. I asked the butcher to give me the bullet and they did not...

That is a nice auto! I like hearing stories about handgun bucks. Was it standing still? Running? Did it know you were there? Was it with other deer?

Better a little far forward than a little far back!

Nice buck.

Better a little far forward than a little far back!

For someone who's been there, done that...Amen.

Congrats, that is a great experience.

Rimfire,
He was broadside, standing still, totally unaware of my presence. Otherwise, I probally would not have taken the shot at that distance. Thanks

Great photo.
I can't take my eyes off it.

It centers on a spot of blood.

The OP shot it with a pistol w/o a scope... Try that at 400+ yards.
