I tried hypervelocity w/ mixed results, some russian CRAP that patterned instead of grouped. I hear a mixed bag on federal bulk pack. I really am not too fond of Remmy ammo except in certain circumstances. I may end up w/CCI mini mags, but would prefer to explore some of my less cost prohibitive options. Thanks guys.

My mark III 22/45 hunter loves the minimags. I agree with ya on the remmington, but it certainly is cheap. I had 1 jam out of 500 rounds last time I used the remmington golden bullets though. They seem to have uneven grain ammounts, but are fairly accurate. Just try a little of everything and see what works best. The minimags consistency is worth it to me, and its not like they are that expensive.

You'll probably just have to buy a bunch of different kinds and try them out.

My Ruger rimfires always seemed to have not so good triggers which would definitely hamper their ultimate accuracy.

Also, what barrel lenght gun do you have?

Good luck, at least .22lr ammo is cheap and trying a bunch won't cost much. Plus, you'll get a lot of trigger time figuring out what works best.

First of all, stay away from the high velocity stuff if your gun will run without it. No need and less recoil/noise.

I use CCI Target exclusively. Economically priced and available.

My favorite .22LR round is the Winchester Super X, available in bulk packs. I have few if any problems with that ammo, where as Remington and Federal bulk just gives bulk problems. I just got my MK III so haven't tried it yet, but if my past experiences hold it will do great.

It's a 5.5 barrel. The trigger seems pretty good to me...maybe shooting da revolvers and S&W sigmas numbs me to a trigger that is less than pristine. I wish the trigger action was more like the 1911 it tries to replicate. Also, a little off topic, will a MkIII bolt release fit on this, or am I stuck w/ the round knob? Somewhere I saw a 22/45 set up w/ 1911 style controls, tho I don't recall where. Any help is appreciated.

My 22/45 is previous version and I have used it a lot for pin shooting.

Two things I found - first, I replaced the extractor with a Volquartsen - nice sharp angle cut - better than original.

Ammo - best for me has been to settle on Fed Champion. Only prob's I'll get are due to extreme crud build up finally preventing easy full battery aquisition and so then a misfire. Clean and light lube = back to 100%.

Mine runs just fine on Federal and Winchester bulk pack ammo. Stay away fron Remington Thunderbolt unless you really like cleaning lead out of your barrel.

Try as many different types and brands as you can get your hands on. Let the gun tell you what it likes. .22's are about the most ammo sensitive of any cal. you'll come acrossed! Some like high buck stuff, some shoot the low buck stuff very well, some like the high vel. stuff some like the std. stuff. Thats part of the FUN of shooting .22's. CCI, Wolf, SK, plus many more shoot great, you just have to find one or two that your gun shoots well.
Be safe.

PS: here's a great .22 site. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/

Try CCI Standard Velocity. It's the best round I've found for my 22/45. Best part is that it's one of the cheaper rounds out there.

I got out today for a short time. I tried rem t-bolt and CCi minimags. The CCI i was able to remove bottlecaps from a soda bottle at approximately 15 yards. The Remmy was not quite as good but would serve in a pinch for close range minute of squirrel. When I have more time I will stretch the distance some and really wring her out. hanks for the suggestions guys.

Mini mags are the gold standard, green tag is ok, velocitors are good and actually are supersonic in my 6 7/8 model. I shoot mostly cheap ammo, and I like federal classic, and federal bilk pack. Wolf mt and CCI blazers are ok too.
