nics question ? ccdw question? help a newbie out!!!

hello all ,I was reading some posts on the high road and one referenced a man that had been turned down for a nics check on a firearm because of a judgement.
Now i would like to start out by saying that i have a judgement against me for a hospital bill that i was unable to pay,but now i am making payments on.
My question is will i be turned down if i want to buy a handgun because of the judgement? or does it have to be a criminal judgement if there is such a thing?
My second question is i am signed up to take my ccdw class on the 28 of this month but i wonder if this will affect my ability to pass the background check for that? i would not want to take the class just to be turned down.

I would just like to say that this is the only time that i have ever been in trouble in my life never even had a speeding ticket.

I KNOW GO SEE A LAWYER :banghead: but i just cant stand to give my hard earned money away to a lawyer for ten minutes advice that might not be correct!!

NO you will not be turned down because of your 'judgement'. I've owed money to the federal and state IRS many times in the past and been on payment plans and all, and NO, it doens't impact your RKBA. As long as you're paying.. you will KNOW if something is wrong because you would be in jail if it was that bad.

I dunno about your CCW class... what state? I can't imagine them denying your purchase... now, your ability to actually carry may be questionable... but buying a gun or getting one of those FOID cards... NO!

No, don't see a lawyer, you are fine. You would know if you were under indictment for a felony... it usually involves contacting you at the very least lol and mentioning to you that you have to go to court.

Don't worry... buy all you want.

im in kentucky .kentucky doesnt require foid cards just go to the dealer they run the insta check and your out the door.
sadly im not planning on buying any firearms right now at least not until i get this judgement took care of but i would like to go ahead and take my ccdw class and get my permit since i already have a carry gun!
besides if i get the permit in kentucky i believe that i dont have to submit to a background check to buy a firearm just show my ccdw permit and im out the door!!!

I am not from kentucky, but I can not imagine that an unpaid hospital bill could stop any own or carry permissions. (Climb into flame suit, drop on helmet, and wait for the challenge to the word permission, instead of right). Yes, I do know the difference, and I do not like it. In My Humble Opinion, the supreme law of the land is in my signature line, only 27 words, do they make sense to you? Do they need to be "interpreted" by modern standards?

You are fine. Go take your class and get your permit issued to you. The fact that you are on a payment plan for hospital bills has no bearing on your RKBA, your ability to take the CCW class or the issuance of your permit.
