If he had shot him, it would be national news, breathlessly reported as evidence of the need for further gun control.

COLUMBIA, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities in Tennessee say a spat over chewing gum ended with a 14-year-old boy stabbing his twin brother to death.

The sheriff's office in Maury County says the twins were arguing when one grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his brother in the chest.

The sheriff says the surviving teen, who has not been identified is very remorseful. He is being charged with first-degree murder.

The principal at the boys' middle school says it will be "a hard life lesson" and "a long healing process" for their classmates.
