I've been out scouting a parcel my buddy told me where he'd spotted a good sized buck. Found a good spot where a trail cuts in front of a swamp through a stand of tall pines. I had my climber set and was just starting up to clear some branches when I heard a stamp and a snort. My heart jumped into my throat when I turned around. He wasn't a monster but with three nice points to each side he was better than average. We just stood there looking at each other for a couple of seconds and then he snorted again, turned and loped away. This wasn't a full blown panic run, just an easy lope. All I could do was stand there two feet off the ground and watch him leave. :banghead:
My question is; Deer season just opened here. and because he didn't run away in a panic (He actually stopped about 75 yards away to look at me.) should I set up where I was this morning or move a bit ? I'm planning on being there by 4am tomorrow. :)
