I am wanting some advice on what to look for in a used P7. I am looking at a P7M8 or a M13.
What should I look for in terms of wear and use?
Before someone tells me to go to HKPro, I asked the same question there and I am looking for a diverse group of ideas and opinions.

A price you can agree with, at least 3 mags, gas chamber cleaning tool were the 1st few things that came to mind.

Disassemble the pistol (easy to do) and look at the gas cylinder and gas cylinder piston. If the piston edges are rounded, this part may need replacement which is the basis for slowing the movement of the slide rearward. Also make sure the gas port near the rear of the barrel is clear.
They are great pistols.

from what i heard extra mags are a must. as cslinger once said....the price of a p7 mag would make you think that "Hans was up in the moutains hand forming and smithing all these mags 1 per day".

IMO, the best place to ask this question is:

when I bought mine I was talking with the seller about them. The point he stressed the most when looking at used P& series pistols was to examine the gas piston. When running your finger along the ridges, they should feel "sharp" and not seem to have rounded edges. (Just as Pilot stated) Other than that, there's just the standard look-see as with any other firearm. They are - in my opinion - the finest handgun produced.

Thanks for your responses. I am reconsidering the whole thing. 1000+ is a lot to pay for one used handgun.

I don't have many guns that are worth more after I bought them. My P7M8 is one such gun ;) Buy the gun, $1000 is a fair price (depending on condition & accesories) ;)
