I went in to get some 9mm today and it was on special. $29.98 instead of $40 for 250 rounds. That's $6 per 50, better than WWB at Wal*Mart.
It was a similar reduction on the .40 and .45.

Worth a phone call to see if the offer is ongoing and if they have any in stock.

Thanks for the tip, might have to stock up on 9MM 115 grain JHPs, my P11 loves them.

Hi all,

How does the Remington UMC ammop compare in quality to the Winchester 100 round value packs you can get at Wal-Mart? I'm talking simple range/target ammo... not to be used for personal defense. Thanks.

I have never noticed any difference between UMC or WWB. A chrono might tell you something but my guns can't tell the difference. The have both been accurate and reliable for me.

Anyone know how long the sale is supposed to last? I'll have to pick up 2 or 3 boxes each of 9mm and .40 and at least one of .45 but I don't get paid until Friday and I won't be able to get there until Sat night or Sunday.

UMC v. WWB seems to depend upon the gun (and caliber). I'm not a huge fan of .45 or .40 in WWB anymore (especially .40 as that gave me the worst ammo related failure I've ever had). 9mm WWB never gave me any trouble. With both brands you may find your handgun loves it, or it may be the only ammo your gun won't eat. My CZ 75B prefers WWB 9mm to UMC 9mm. My SIG 226 likes either brand of 9mm. My Taurus PT140 M. Pro seems to like UMC better (its only failure was an ammo failure- a squib round of WWB that locked up the gun). My Charles Daly likes both, but likes WWB better (and S&B best). My Ruger KP345 doesn't like any ammo much, but works a bit better with UMC over WWB.

How come no one ever carries the 250-round value packs in .38? Remington makes it (http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/UMC/UMC_handgun.asp), (stock #L38S11A) but I have yet to see it anywhere except online. Not at any local gunshops or the big box stores (Bass Pro, Gander Mtn., etc.)

Aren't there more .38s out there than all other centerfire pistol calibers combined. I cry discrimination against revolver shooters :neener:

Never shot WWB ball but every WWB .45ACP JHP value pack I ever bought had at least one failure to fire, sometimes many more. My experience with UMC .45ACP ball and UMC 9MM JHP has been a good one, I trust UMC JHPs for everyday carry. In my non-scientific opinion UMC is better quality ammunition.

I have never had failures to fire with either Winchester White Box or UMC.

According to Ammoman the price of 45acp is going to go up dramatically. Avaliability is down also. If you can get it on sale, I suggest that you buy a bunch.
