Google your user name

Am I the only one who has noticed that every post you make on here or every purchase on e-bay can be found with Google using you member name? I'm all for good internet searches, but that is too good. I think it makes a strong case to use several member names. I've gone though all of my internet accounts and removed my name.
I hear a lot of larger companies are using the internet to research new employees now. I think if I were looking for a job, I would set up a seperate e-mail account just for that purpose. Also, I've gotten paranoid about using my name on the internet.

Tried the search... mine seems to be popular with Germans/Polish/Hungarians..., and some goober in Denton uses the same nom de plume. then I found this quote on a message board:
"That it why it is crucial that the civilian population maintain its Right to keep and bear arms. This is why gun-control is the central enemy of a free society.
-Geronimo45 from THR"
I've thought that quote many a time... but I don't think I've ever said it...
Still, fictional quotes that make me look intelligent are not a deep-seated objection.
Edit: Now that I checked the thread again, they did have one of my posts quoted... then inserted their own remarks, in line with mine, then put in the the one who made the original quote. They are hereby absolved from sin... though I suggest they post their source after source comments.

For me the nom de plume at THR is a one of so I'm not too concerned. I figure that as long as I don't check out THR at work, theres no way an employer (or coworker) would have any way to see what I've posted here. In the event they do, they'd likely note my penchant for cool posts and an unnatural affection for the .308 winchester...

Unless I tell them, or they do some major hacking, how are they going to match me to my posting name ?

This is indeed not really on topic for THR but for the short term I will place it in tech support.

I've always figured that if I don't lie, I don't have to remember what I said. If I don't use foul language, I don't have to apologize for what I said. Same if I attack ideas instead of people.
I don't think I've ever written anything on the Internet that I haven't said in public, so I just don't worry about it. I've been talking about shooting and hunting and ethics and morals since I got back to Texas in 1963. At work, at home, or out and about. I really don't care who hears what I say or reads what I write.

I'm not ashamed of anything I post, so I use my own name. If it affects my job, I'd say it probably wouldn't be a job I wanted much.

Fortunately, there's a somewhat famous John Shirley who loves the internet, since he's one of the original "cyberpunk" authors.
He's a pretty cool guy, if a little weird. ;)

I did a web search on my name, and I get an awful lot of hits on myself, which is okay by me. I don't give a rat's posterior cheeks if someone wants to google my name to see what I have written on forums, or to see my blog.
It is amusing though, as to what you can find when you do Google your user name, which in my case is my real name. For example, I found this (http://www.dod.state.ga.us/firstfridayonline/jan03/photo_48_janus.html), and I can say without a doubt, it ain't me, never been in the military. I had a copy of that pic (see that link above) hanging in my offoce at my desk. People always get a chuckle when they see it and read the name, who knows maybe we are distant cousins or something like that!:neener:

Okay...we played with it, a little, but this really isn't on topic.
