The Glock 19

Just purchased a G19 and put 200 rounds through it at the range. I'm already the owner of a G26, and the G19 has just topped off my small Glock collection. Now I see why I love the Glock line of pistols. I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but the G19 may be the best handgun I have ever fired. To this date I have not fired any weapon that felt this smooth, and accuracy is no issue.

I can see myself purchasing another soon. The Glock bug continues to bite. I feel sorry for my bank account. I'm losing it!:what:

G19 the smoothest? You just need to get out more!

Congrats the the new purchase. I have the 23 / 27 combo myself and they are fine weapons.

I have prev owned a Glock 17, 19 and 26. I only own a Glock 34 now. I really like the gun with the longer sight radius and stock lighter trigger.

For a gun the size of the Glock 19, I still prefer the Walther P99 A/S better. I shoot it much better than the G19. But, to each his own. And if U shoot the gun well - nothing wrong w/ that :)

Glox are best in 9mm :D I have owned a few in other calibers - sold them all off. I've had a 2 tone G19 and couldn't be happier ;)

I use to be a huge G19 fan until I got my S&W M&P9. Try one and you'll forget the Glock.

I have a 1st gen G17, a 2nd gen G19, and a 3rd gen G19. I really can't think of another hand gun that I would prefer, except maybe a Sig 226/229 combo. I carry the 2nd gen G19. keep the 3rd gen G19 with a Glock light for night time ventures, and I use the 1st gen G17 in 3 gun matches. I might add a G26 some day, but for me he G19's have it covered.

The G19/G23 are my favorite Glocks to date. They're excellent in size and capacity. Quite accurate as well.

I greatly prefer a quality 1911 over any Glock (or any other handgun for that matter), but that's strickly a matter of personal opinion. Besides, I just shoot the 1911 better... they fit me like a glove.

Enjoy your G19, its a great handgun with little that can be said against it.

If people cannot contribute something that is not rude or smart-aleck, don't post anything at all. Folks do not have to agree that the Glock (or any other handgun) is best. Folks can disagree, but the smart-mouthed comments need to stop now unless one's membership here is of no value to them. Adults should be able to discuss pros and cons, likes and dislikes, without such meaningless drivel. The majority of posts in this thread are fine.

Every once in a while, I'll shoot with somebody who has a Glock. Though I have no plans to own one, I shoot them without complaint. They are good guns. I shot a friend's G19 this morning. I was again reminded what I like about them and what I don't like about them. They are quite accurate and reliable. I don't like the trigger, and the trigger guards seem too narrow. Just doesn't suit me.

Oh, and pictures of blown up Glocks give me the willies. ;) Of course, any picture of a blown up gun does.

Personally I agree that Glocks are really nice handguns. I have an M-22 and an M-27. I bought all of the Glock armorers manuals and DVDs I could find and have tinkered my 27 into my smoothest handgun. Other than buying wisely, (connector weight, etc.) everything has been very easy to do. My little Glock has a "Lightning Strike" all metal trigger assy. and a "Fire Dragon" recoil spring and buffer. The only fitting I had in all of that was on the "Ghost" 5# connector's trigger stop tab. The trigger I have now resembles no trigger I have looked at on any other Glock...smooth as butter pull and a very quick reset. And I have been told that my trigger isn't as smooth as some have been.

I have tested many handguns, I am not a grandmaster professional, I am just ordinary amateur user, and so after numerous transitions I finally understood that there is nothing better than Glock series. and G17 is my favorite. currently i have Sig P229 which is very good handgun but I guess new Glock will change him very soon )))

I am an experienced handgunner, and the only thing I own are Glock 19s. Not to mention experienced instructors like Dave Spaulding and James Yeager.

Yep all kinds, novice/expert, young/old, rich/poor tend to be down.

No worries, my parade does not have a float for other people's gun preferences lurking behind the marching band or anything. :) To each their own and all that, and if Glock works for you, there's nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, I'm not a very big Glock fan, but I'm willing to flex on that concerning the Glock 19. I don't know about the "best handgun" but, if I were to ever pick up another Glock, it would definitely be a 19.

I prefer 1911's as well but I always have Glock 9mm's in my collection. I have a G17, G19 and G20. I shoot the G20 the most accurate out of the bunch. I think Glocks are great pistols, I just need to practice more with them to be as accurate as I am with my 1911's.

That's so true.

You will find that a person who has minor shooting imperfections will have those amplified when transitioning to a lighter gun with a trigger that requires more concentration.

We all know that that Glocks being the best are only my opinion. I've fired 1911's, Sigs, and Beretta's and I just can't get into guns with the decocker. Too much mechanics. However, from what I've read in other forums the 1911's reputation speaks for itself. The design is almost 100 years old, so that says a lot. I watched an online video of Todd Jarret, and he was amazing with his 1911 pistols, but they say it takes more training to master a 1911. However, with minimal training, I am rather accurate with both of my Glocks.

I also wanted to apologize for saying the Glock 19 was the best gun. I should have said one of the best guns out there right now.

PhillyGlocker, no need to apologize. You've found a gun that fits you and that you shoot accurately. It's also tough and reliable. I can say that of the 1911 platform and the Browning Hi-Power for myself. We're all different, prefer different guns, triggers, grip widths, grip angles, calibers, and all that other stuff. The important thing is for each person to take the time to find what fits them. You seem to have done that. Glock makes a good pistol, so don't get discouraged by folks who talk down on them because something else works better for them.

There's no need to apologize. We understand that it's your opinion, and you should have no fear stating it (respectfully, of course). While there is no best gun, there is a best gun for you, and it seems for right now you've found it. You'll always get the crowd who think the Glock is evil, ugly, unreliable, etc.

This is a good thread and everything I've read demonstrates understanding and tolerance of the other person. I have kept a list of guns I don't care for and if the bell ever rings they'd be the last ones I'd use. But I can also understand the mechanics of making improvised weapons and if I had to I'd make and use them. I'm long in the tooth now. Things don't happen much like they did when I was a kid. My dad gave me a 1911 when I was 12 years old because he worked long hours. It stayed hidden and I knew it wasn't a toy. I have carried and used firearms for 46 years and I find glory in mechanical creations that work well. There is junk out there but the assessment of what's poorly made and what isn't depends on the needs of the moment. If a particlular gun works for someone they can be proud that they can stop wondering if they'll ever find that one gun which works well for them.

Really prefer a good 1911 myself, but used to be quite fond of Glocks too, until I discovered the Springfield XD. I now own a 3 in XD in .40 and a 5 in XD in .45. I will never own another Glock. But to each his own.

I picked up my G19 Friday, hadnt shot it yet. It fits in my hand great. It will be my new carry gun as soon as I get good enough with it. From everything I've read about it, you really cant go "wrong" with it as in its a very reliable, durable gun with a high capacity for its size and wieght.
