I picked up a new sw1911pd this week. The commander with laser grips in black. I just got a chance to shoot it today. First were 3 chip mccormick 8 round mags. I went through those and it was shootingn good. THen i pop in one of the sw 8rd mags w/7 in it. . pop, pop, popop, popop, pop. then on to the next popop, popop, popop, pop. Then i got worried and packed up for the house. Im getting 2 shots per pull. My first guess is the hammer is following but on a brand new factory gun?????? The trigger does feel kind of odd as its springgy after the end of the pull, it doesn't seem to "bottom out" but i have never had anything but a gi model so i cant compare. Any help. Is there something simple before i ship it off. Thanks in advance.

DON'T screw around, send it back. It might go from two shots to the ENTIRE magazine on the next trigger pull.

S&W will send you a shipping tag for postage paid shipment to them. They will fix it and return it to you. If you haven't messed with anything there will be no charge to you.

Send it back, they will make it safe and everything will be good in the world.

Ok, will do. I really didn't feel good about the controlling the 2 shots. If all 7 went i would probably be no where near my target area. Is this a somewhat common problem with new guns. I thought the hammer following was a problem usually linked to worn out sear/hammer parts.

It's not uncommon on an older gun, but not anywhere near right for a new one. It may just be a poor sear spring adjustment....or it may be a poorly cut hammer or sear and those are nothing to foll around with if you aren't sure what you're doing. Have them make it right.

Are you sure you aren't pulling the trigger a second time during recoil? Load just 2 rounds at a time and let another experienced shooter (preferrably a 1911 shooter) shoot it to see if it's actually doubling.
