I use Hoppes 9 and CLP on the metal and for the plastic use a hot, wet washcloth with a dab of Dawn on it. The Dawn cleans off any CLP that made it to the plastic.

I wash everything, including the bore,in the kitchen sink with Simple Green. I scrub everything with a toothbrush and then rinse with very hot water. I blow everything off with an air compessor or in hot weather, sun dry everything.
I check the bore and it is usually clean but if not a little Hoppes Elite and a pass with a bore brush and then a few dry patches.
Everything gets wiped down and wiped dry with Mobil 1.
All my Glocks look and perform as new.

I don't own a Polymer pistol, but I doubt that their are any gun cleaning products that would damage the polymer frame. Personally I use M Pro7 for all my firearm cleaning. Its safe for most finishes, non toxic and it works very well. It comes in both liquid and gel form.

During the last summer, I made an accidental discovery. I accidentally got some petroleum based hand cleaner on my Glock. When I wiped it off, I noticed how much dirt came up w/ it. So, I experimented. I painted some of the hand cleaner all over my G19 and discovered it just wiped clean....barrel cleaning was never easier! Once complete, I wipe it lightly down w/ a patch w/ a Hoppes and reassemble.
Sounds wierd but it works :D

Lint-free, dust-free microfiber cloth. I have one that is dedicated just for my pistols with polymer frames. No serious elbow grease required, just a nice firm wipe down.
