I came accross an "odd" long gun when I married. My wife said it was her father's gun years ago before he died. It had not been out of a closet for many years and looked like it. I disassembled it and cleaned it. It is actually a pretty cool piece. It is a break - style over / under with a 20 gauge on the bottom and a .22LR on top. It is stamped "Savage 240 Series - N" on the right of the receiver and has the number (serial?) B102732 on the left side. Even though it is a little scratched and has minor blemishes in the bluing, the bore is excellent and it shoots very accurate.

Any info on this item? I was told it may be worth something but I really do not care. I intend on keeping it. I was thinking about stripping the stock and re-doing it as well as the blueing but if it is valuable, I do not want to do this myself.

Thanks:confused:

The only Savage M240 I could find is a 28 or .410 guage O/U shotgun. There is a Model 24C and 'D' series 'M' in 20 ga/.22. Is it possible your '0' is a 'D' or 'C' and the 'N' is an 'M'?
The Savage Model 24 has been made in 20ga./.22LR for years. They're not particularly valuable as collector guns. They're dandy for upland birds and small game though.
Had a Savage 24 in 20 ga/.223, briefly, long ago. Wasn't something I wanted so it got sold.

A buddy has one in .22 Magnun and .410.
It's his "keep the critters out of the garden" gun.
It must work pretty well because his wife's garden is one of the horticultural wonders of their part of the county.

I never managed to buy one of these guns, but I have always thought the were neat. I'd keep one that ended up here too.
