What makers / models work well for concealed carry?

Greetings (again) :)
I'm still debating which auto I'd like to invest in. I'm interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on which makers I should seriously consider and which of their models work best as a CCW.
I'm specifically interested in a mid size 9mm but I'm open minded :scrutiny:
Thanks,
Brent...

I am very partial to the Sig line of handguns but there are others as well that are fine guns. If I were going to buy a 9mm for concealed carry, it would be a Sig 239 or 229. I own a Sig 229 in 40 S&W that is nothing short of fantastic and a Sig 230 in .380 that is a great little gun as well. You realize that by not setting any parameters such as price etc. you are going to get a wide variety of answers. Mike

Lots to choose from
HK USP9c
Kahr T9, K9 or P9 (PM9 or MK9 if you want really small)
Walther P99
Springfield XD9
Sig 229 or 239
Glock 19 or 26 (not my favorite, but very reliable)
CZ PCR or P01
You may want to consider a comander sized 1911 in .45acp. Nice and thin and easy to conceal with the 4" barrel.
I would handle and shoot as many as possible and go with what feels and shoots best. All the above choices (and more that I left out) are excellent. It's up to you the individual to determine which one is "just right" for you.

Any gun can be concealed, it's just a matter of how much of a pain it is!!! ;)
Usually, small is better than big!! I can conceal all of the full size guns I own. But, I have pretty much opted for "small and powerful". For me, that means the Kahr MK9 loaded with Corbon 115gr +P's!!!
I have debated this point with myself for a long time!!

Kahr P9 works well for a "mid size" gun, but I like the ultra-small PM9 myself.
18 oz. empty, smaller than many .380 autos, and 6+1 rounds of +P 9mm.
Reliable, accurate, fun to shoot, easy to carry.

Here's the deal. I have two guns that I carry depending on the situation. A Kel-Tec P-11 as a beater gun to take sailing, fishing, etc., and a Kimber Pro Carry that I prefer to carry because it is more reliable and I shoot it better.
Guess which one is more comfortable IWB? The Kimber. It is almost 1/4" thinner than the Kel-Tec and conceals better. The Kimber is heavier (almost twice as much) but in reality I don't notice the weight. The Kel-Tec "digs" in to my side more. The 1911 models are thinner than most modern pistols which allows them to conceal better. Granted, you'll give up two rounds for that but I carry a spare mag anyway.
If you have the opportunity to try different guns and rigs, do so. If you are in pretty good with your gun shop, the might let you try a few set ups before you buy.

Thank you all for your replies!
I got what I was after, basically a list of "maybes" to investigate :scrutiny:

The Glock 23 is NOT 9mm. But you said you were open-minded, so I decided I'd chime in. The Glock 23 is Glock's mid-sized .40S&W handgun. I've owned mine for two and a half years and find it very comfortable to shoot. It also fits my hand extremely well. I only started carrying it today (just got permit), but it was quite comfortable. It would be no more difficult to conceal than the Glock 19 stretcharmstrong mentioned. The two models are identical in size, just one is 9mm and one is .40S&W.
Bottom line, if you would be comfortable carrying a Glock 19 and you are interested in a larger caliber (NOT saying .40 is infinitely better than 9mm, just saying if he wants a larger caliber) it would be worth your time to check out a Glock 23.

My hands down favorite to this date is my G19. Why you ask?
15 rounds of 9mm.
Can and will handle +P+ ammo if you desire to shoot it
Reliable and accurate.
Easy to maintain
Easy to conceal.
What else could you ask for.
Oh yea, it loves to ride in a Comp-Tac undercover Pro Kydex holster.

and for economic reasons, I won't for a while. But I've been amazed at what can be concealed. My G22, a full-size auto, is invisible under a tucked-in shirt with a Tucker Texas Heritage IWB holster. Likewise, I can carry my Ruger P90 (talk about fat and blocky) on a Hume slide under a polar fleece in cool weather with no problem.
As the other guy said, a Glock gives you 15 rd for not much hassle.

For a mid sized 9mm as a CCW....I would recommend a...........CZ PCR....surprise :what:
My typical daily carry is my PCR with an OEM CZ Compact Hi Cap= 15 rnds total inc. chambered round. An HBE Holster, 2 fullsize CZ Hi Caps= 32 more rnds (47 total) and my Kershaw Whirlwind.....
occasionally my Cold Steel neck knife.....

Umm...you can conceal just about anything with a gun belt, a good holster, and the right cover garments. For me, I use a Springfield full size 1911 in a Sparks SSII riding on a Rosen 1.5" belt. It is incredibly comfortable.
